ABOUT OUR NEWSLETTERS Prior to the Face 2 Face Archery Tournament we will publish a newsletter every 4 to 6 weeks to keep you up to date. These newsletters will be sent to everyone registered for the tournament or the open selection rounds and to those who registered to receive our newsletters. Please forward this newsletter to anyone you think might be interested in the F2F Archery Tournament. This might be an elite archer, archers, archery shops, manufactures, your national association or just your friends. ABOUT THE FACE 2 FACE TOURNAMENTS After a successful series of Face to Face tournaments in the city of Eindhoven, The Netherlands in the late 90-ies, it was decided that the Face 2 Face formula is still highly appreciated and that this tournament with some slight modifications deserved a new start. In December 2004, in a new venue in the city of Amsterdam, we proved that we made the right decision. At the end of November 2005, for the first time with modern webcast life registration, we organized the second edition of our tournament. We enjoyed the success of the 2004 and 2005 Face 2 Face tournaments and we are proud to announce the 2006 edition. In December 2006 we welcome for the third time the world’s best archers in Amsterdam, the Capital of Sports, for a unique archery event of the highest level. LOOKING BACK AT THE FACE 2 FACE TOURNAMENT 2005 Looking back at the F2F 2005 we can conclude that the Tournament has rebuilt its fame. It is one of most prestigious Archery Tournaments worldwide. In just two year the tournament based on its round robin format took the world. The Face 2 Face 2005 has been on many archery magazine covers worldwide, articles are published on almost all major magazines. The name of the Face 2 Face is used in same sentences as other great tournament as “Las Vegas” and “Nimes” both relying on many more years of experience. Still with the support of the Dutch Archery Federation the F2F was the first to cover a tournament live on the internet. Six cameras brought the archery tournament straight to the houses of people watching online. Until now this has not been performed by any other tournament. We hope that showing the possibilities on this front will move archery forward. F2F will. Having 600 streams in 2005 many more will be present in 2006. But will it be enough for the thousands willing to follow the small and fast matches on which the round robin format of the F2F is based… The organisation is also very proud on the small army of 120 volunteers that have run the tournament as smooth as possible. Many compliments of world’s best archer and coaches have reached us. A small fallback was the weather, due to massive snow storms during the F2F weekend 75% of the Netherlands was unable to travel. Whole of Holland was one big traffic jam. This resulted in lower visitor numbers then expected. For 2006 more efforts will be put in getting more visitors to the F2F tournament. Several side tournaments, radio advertisements, the archer trade show and seminars must help getting the visitors numbers up to 1000. The level of participants was again high archers form 19 different countries joined the tournament. In the Men Compound division a level to be found at world championships was present. We expect more and more national countries will be participating in the tournament were one must have been. LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FACE 2 FACE TOURNAMENT 2006 The organisation is very happy to see a growth in support from many major archery clubs in the Netherlands, as well as individuals on personal base. The F2F support has further great support from the National Archery Association and regional associations. This shows that the Netherlands has a good support for major tournaments. Seeing the high performance of so many of world’s best athletes will have a positive influence on the competitive archers in the Netherlands. The organisation of the F2F2006 forecasts more archers from more national teams and pro-teams joining the F2F. The F2F might even reach its maximum in each category (RM 48, RW 48, CM 96, CW 48). The OSR pre-tournaments for winning wildcards will be hosting also more archers then previous years. During the F2F2006 more parallel tournaments will be organised (MINI F2F and other tournament). Goal is to attract as many as possible archers and visitors to the Sporthallen Zuid. F2F2006 will again host the International Archery Trade show. Being the first major tournament in Europe after the product launches, many new products will be seen for real in Amsterdam. Possibilities of (free) seminars by major names in archery and/or manufactures are being worked out. The internet will become more and more important. Even more efforts will be put into the F2F website and into the LIVE webcasts during the tournament. We are looking forward to the following dates….
