FACE 2 FACE ARCHERY TOURNAMENTS NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2006 ABOUT OUR NEWSLETTERS Prior to the Face 2 Face Archery Tournaments we will publish our newsletters on a regular base to keep you up to date. These newsletters will be sent to everyone registered for the tournament or the open selection rounds and to those who registered to receive our newsletter. Please forward this newsletter to anyone you think might be interested in the F2F Archery Tournament. This might be an elite archer, archers, archery shops, manufactures, your national association or just your friends. DATE AND PLACE OF THE AMSTERDAM 2006 FACE 2 FACE TOURNAMENT The third edition of the Face 2 Face Archery tournament will be held from 8 to 10 December 2006 at the venue of the 2004 and 2005 edition of the tournament: Sporthallen Zuid in Amsterdam. AMSTERDAM 2006 FACE 2 FACE FREE OF ENTRY FOR SPECTATOR! S For the 2006 edition of the Face 2 Face there will be no entry fees for spectators. Thanks to our sponsors we can offer a free entry for all spectators to the 2006 edition of F2F. This is one of the actions of the F2F tournament organisation to get even more people to the Sporthallen Zuid venue during the 2006 F2F competition and to let a broad audience enjoy the top performances of worlds best archers, of the archery trade show during the tournament and more. PARTICIPANTS At this moment (August 2006) already 12 different ensigns indicate the nationalities of the participants registered so far for the 2006 F2F. Members of 10 different pro-teams will shoot for their sponsors and promote their names. If your standard is not yet included, you can be the one to open it by making your registration now! Many of you are participating in the FITA world cup competition and WC Field in Sweden, we wish them good results. Please don’t forget to send in you! r entry form in time for the December 2006 Face 2 Face competition in Amsterdam. OPEN SELECTION ROUND For archers who wish to participate in the 2006 F2F but who do not meet our selection criteria, prior to the F2F tournament a so-called Open Selection Round (OSR) will be organized. For the winners of the OSR there are wild cards available for the main F2F tournament. Please note that for the OSR recurve men there are still very little places left. Other OSR divisions are filling and the number of participants is limited. MINI FACE 2 FACE FOR CADETS AND JUNIORS At the same time of the Face 2 Face and in the same venue, in a separate gymnasium, there will be organized a so-called Mini Face 2 Face for juniors and cadets. The F2F tournament directors are happy that this initiative has been a great success in the 2005 edition of the F2F, for the 2006 F2F the interest among the promising young archers of the Netherlands to participate in the 2006 Mini F2F is overwhelming and the number of young participants has been ! doubled, as we want to give as much cadets and juniors the change to get acquainted with the great Face 2 Face concept and the tension archery gives. ARCHERY SPORT FOR PEOPLE WITH A DISABILITY Another initiative of the Face 2 Face tournament in 2005 was to organize special sessions to promote the sport of archery among people with a disability. This activity will be repeated in 2006, as archery is the sport for all. Some of the most experienced coaches of the Netherlands that have been successful in the international competition of archery for disabled athletes and members of the Dutch team training for the Paralympics in Beijing 2008, will assist in the special clinics that will take place during the 2006 F2F tournament. The City of Amsterdam and the Dutch Archery Association fully support these activities. RENEWED FACE 2 FACE WEBSITE To keep the archery community in the world informed on the state of the art of the Face 2 Face tournament w! e use our website http://www.face2face-archery.org. The 2006 F2F arche ry website contains the latest news, including the newsletters. Recently we renewed our website and you can find for instance pictures of the participants. WEBCAST PROJECT After the world premiere and extremely successful life registration of the Face 2 Face archery tournament in 2005, the organizers of the 2006 F2F edition in Amsterdam plan to open one separate target lane during the whole tournament that will be under permanent camera control for direct web cast. Specially selected matches between the top competitors during the Elimination Rounds will take place on this show lane. Last minute polls will give the visitors of the F2F website the option to influence the selected matches on this special show lane. Internet has a great promotional value for a sport like archery. This influence of Internet will be growing more and more in the future. Because of promotional value to archery the Dutch Archery Association supports the web cast project in order to re! ach their goal of 10.000 registered archers in The Netherlands. FACE 2 FACE RULES IN FRENCH; LES REGLEMENTS DU TOURNOI F2F EN FRANCAIS Les règlements du tournoi Face-en-Face 2006 seront publiés en français sur notre site. Voir http://www.face2face-archery.org. The rules for the competition are published in English and in French on our website. JUDGES There will be three international judges on the 2006 F2F tournament in Amsterdam. One of them will be a native French speaker. Il y aura trois juges FITA du niveau international, un des eux parle le français assez bien. HOTEL ACCOMMODATION Like in the previous editions of the Amsterdam F2F tournament, the **** Novotel of the Accor group in Amsterdam will be the F2F hotel during the tournament. Novotel has a excellent reputation among our participants. All the rooms that are available for the 2006 F2F tournament participants are recently renovated. ! Novotel offers the Concordia Archery Tournaments foundation for the pa rticipants of the Face 2 Face tournament 2006 reduced prices. The hotel is close to the tournament facility and very well reachable by car; there is a good railway connection from Schiphol Airport and from Amsterdam Central Station. Free transport for participants between the Novotel and the archery venue is part of the service archery and coaches receive during their stay in Amsterdam. Please note that the transport is limited between Novotel and the archery venue and vice versa. VOLUNTEERS The F2F organisation strongly relies on the cooperation of volunteers. The organization encourages members of the Dutch archery community to subscribe as a volunteer using the website of F2F. Volunteers or earlier editions now their efforts are well appreciated by worlds best archers. Being close to these top archers ! will certainly boost your morale to new training levels. ARCHERY ACTIVITIES DURING THE FACE 2 FACE TOURNAMENT During the Face 2 Face tournament a lot of archery activities will take place in the venue. One separate sport arena in the Sporthallen Zuid venue will be the place where people get the opportunity to have a come-and-try. In the lounges of the venue other promotional and entertaining activities will be organized. In our next newsletters we keep you informed. For broadcasting on Dutch television and abroad of the 2006 Face 2 Face we are in the state of negotiations. FACE 2 FACE ARCHERY TOURNAMENT BECOMES A BIANNUAL TOURNAMENT The CAT foundation, being the organization committee of F2F, has decided that the F2F tournaments will be held from now on, only in the even years. This means the yearly F2F tournament in Amsterdam will be changed to a two yearly tournament. Reasons for this are: We want the F2F to be a very exclusive tourn! ament and attract Worlds best archers during each tournament; The orga nisation relies heavy on volunteers to deliver the best organised tournament with a very high service level. Asking so much of the volunteers each year might result in fewer volunteers; In a two year cycle the organisation has more time to find sponsors and partners and also have some time between the tournaments with less pressure of organizing one of Worlds most prestigious tournaments.
